35th over: Bangladesh 136 all out Dwayne Smith finished off the Bangladesh innings with the wicket of Abdur Razzaq for 3 as West Indies beat Bangladesh by 75 runs in the 4th ODI to level the 5-match series 2-2. Mahmudullah remained not out on 56 as Darren Sammy finished with best match figures for the visitors, 8-1-28-3 after he had scored a vital 62-ball 60 runs.
33rd over: Bangladesh 133 for 9 Darren Sammy introduced his fifth bowler only after the 30th over in the form of Dwayne Smith and the medium pacer got the wicket of Mashrafe Mortaza lbw for just six runs in his second over.28th over: Bangladesh 113 for 8 Veerasammy Permaul picked up two wickets in successive balls as West Indies inched closer to victory. After Mushfiqur Rahim's wicket, Shohag Gazi supported Mahmudullah for bit scoring 13 runs and stitching together 26 runs partnership. But Permaul scalped Gazi caught behind, which was a dubious decision, and in the next ball, the slow left-armer clean bowled Elias Sunny for a nought. Mahmudullah is still at the crease having scored 49 runs so far.
22nd over: Bangladesh 87 for 6 Sunil Narine provided the crucial breakthrough with the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim for 27 runs. Rahim was foxed by the carrom ball as he walked down the pitch trying to hit the ball towards square leg only to see the ball moving away from him after pitching. Devon Thomas completed an easy stumping. The pair of Rahim and Mahmudullah added 74 runs after the hosts were 14 for 5 at one stage. Mahmudullah at the other end was at his aggressive best scoring at a strike-rate of over 90.
18th over: Bangladesh 76 for 5 With spin employed from both ends, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah looked more at ease as they played on watchfully rebuilding the innings. The duo has so far compiled 50-run stand in 69 balls. Earlier, Darren Sammy gave himself an extended spell with ball as he finished his first spell with figures of 7-1-24-3.
11th over: Bangladesh 43 for 5 Bangladesh finally got a move on as vice-captain Mahmudullah cracked two consecutive boundaries off Sammy in the 8th over. The Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah survived few close calls but did not waste any opportunity to put away the bad balls. The duo have now scored 32 runs in 38 balls. Mahmudullah was the aggressor of the two getting four boundaries in total so far.
6th over: Bangladesh 14 for 5 Darren Sammy picked up his third wicket in the form of Mominul Haque for 1 run. Haque went for a confident pull but found Kieron Pollard at square leg who held on to a tough low catch. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah were at the crease at the end of six oves.
3rd over: Bangladesh 7 for 4 Chasing 212 to win and seal the series in their favour Bangladesh got off to a nightmarish start losing their top four in under three overs. After Kemar Roach's first over yielded 3 runs, Darren Sammy took the new ball from the other end and did the trick getting the wickets of Anamul Haque (1) and Naeem Islam (0) in successive deliveries. Haque lobbed a simple return catch to Sammy whereas Islam edged one to second slip. The dew factor clearly helping the ball wobble a bit here and there.
Roach then dismissed Tamim Iqbal (1) and Nasir Hossain (2) in his second over to leave the hosts totttering. After putting Iqbal on the backfoot with short delivery in the previous ball, Roach bowled a length delivery moving away as the opener lost his off-stump bails. Nasir Hussain got stuck to his crease poking at a straight delivery edging the ball to keeper Devon Thomas.
West Indies innings
50th over: West Indies 211 for 9 Darren Sammy played a captain's knock scoring a quickfire fifty of 57 balls to help his team reach a respectable total of 211. Sammy put up good resistance as wickets fell all around him. He got a six and a boundary in the 49th over taking 13 runs off the that over and then reached his fifty with a boundary towards long-on region in the last over bowled by Mahmudullah. Windies took only 36 balls to reach 200 runs from 150 mainly due to Sammy's blitz. The last over yielded 13 runs as Sammy remained not out on 60 off 62 balls.
For Bangladesh, Mahmudullah picked up three wickets with Sunny and Razzaq getting two each and Mortaza and Gazi accounting for one each.
47th over: West Indies 176 for 9 Sunil Narine threw his bat at almost everything as he picked up two boundaries to help Windies with few quick runs but left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak got his wicket for 13 runs. Narine went for a reverse sweep but was clean bowled.
44th over: West Indies 156 for 8 With just six overs remaining, Darren Sammy brought out the slog hitting a six of the first ball straight over the bowlers' head. Mahmudullah though had the last laugh as he got the wicket of Permaul for just one run. Windies got 11 runs off the over as Sunil Narine joined Sammy in the middle.
43rd over: West Indies 145 for 7 West Indies lost their seventh wicket in the form of Darren Bravo as the left-hander pushed one straight back to the bowler, Sohag Gazi, trying to play it to leg-side. Bravo made 34 off 61 balls. Veerasammy Permaul joined Sammy in the middle.
38th over: West Indies 122 for 6 Darren Bravo and Darren Sammy added 21 runs in six overs as they battled hard to put some kind of a defendable total to keep their hopes in the series alive. Bravo looked settled in the middle as he played a cover drive with good timing for a rare boundary.
32nd over: West Indies 102 for 6 Mahmudullah broke the Windies resistance by picking up the wicket of Devon Thomas for 10. Mahmudullah, who was wayward in his spell conceding five wides got one to hit the rough patch as the ball spun in sharply hitting the top of middle stump. The batsman Devon Smith looked completely shocked with the sudden change of direction of the ball. West Indies captain Darren Sammy then joined Darren Bravo in the middle.
30th over: West Indies 97 for 5 Devon Thomas and Darren Bravo ensured that hosts did not get a breakthrough as they went into complete defensive mode scoring 17 runs in 6 overs including a boundary towards the fine leg region, which was West Indies' first four in 74 balls.
24th over: West Indies 80 for 5 Mahmudullah sent the big hitting Kieron Pollard back to the pavilion for just 2 runs. It was a straighter delivery outside off, Pollard played forward for the spin, but he found a nick which was taken by the keeper. West Indies in deep trouble now.
Spinners continued to torment the visitors as Elias Sunny, playing his first match of the series picked up the wicket of Kieran Powell lbw. Powell's painstaking 26 runs came in 44 balls. With spin being employed at both ends, runs dried up for West Indies. After 22 overs WI were 76 for 4.
Abdur Razzaq got the wicket of Dwayne Smith in the first ball of the 19th over as Razzaq fooled the batsman with an arm-ball. Smith, playing for the non-existent spin lost his leg-stump. After 19 overs WI were 75 for 3.
Last match's centurion Marlon Samuels was scalped by Elias Sunny for 27 but not before the batsman was given two chances in the middle. Samuels started playing his shots right from the word go as Naeem Islam dropped him at first slip on 4 and then Sunny failed to hold on to a return catch. Samuels though went about his shot making failing to read the spin and slicing the ball at long-off. After 18 overs WI were 75 for 2.
As the only fast bowler in the Bangladesh XI, Mashrafe Mortaza got an extended run with the ball and he almost rewarded his captain with the wicket of Marlon Samuels as the West Indian nicked one to first slip where Naeem Islam dropped an easy catch. Samuels was batting on 4 when he was dropped. Kieran Powell at the other end looked far from convincing in the middle as he snailed his way to 13 runs off 23 balls. WI were 39 for 1 after 10 overs.
After a cautious start in the first five overs, Chris Gayle opened up in one Mashrafe Mortaza over hitting a boundary smacking an over-pitched delivery over mid-wicket. In the next ball he punished a short ball with a massive six over covers. But, Mortaza got his revenge claiming the big West Indian in final ball of the over as Gayle was holed out at mid-off owing to a mistimed shot. After 6 overs WI were 29 for 1.
Bangladesh skipper won the toss and decided to put West Indies in to bat in the fourth ODI of the series here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
With Bangladesh leading the series 2-1, a win on Friday will give the hosts an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series, while Darren Sammy's boys will hope to draw level in the series before going into the final ODI.
Bangladesh have brought Elias Sunny into the eleven in place of Rubel Hossain, who proved expensive in the last game. Kemar Roach has replaced Ravi Rampaul, out with a niggle, for the West Indies.

After struggling at 79 for 5 with all the big guns – Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard – back in the dugout, it was Sammy's display of nerves in the innings' final stages (5 fours and 2 sixes in 62 balls) which gave them a defendable total.

The West Indies top order was exposed against the spin yet again, with hard hitting opener Chris Gayle falling for just 16, in the sixth over. The talismanic left-hander was followed by last match’s centurion Marlon Samuels (27), Dwayne Smith (0), Kieran Powell (26) and Kieron Pollard (2), the latter four all within eight runs of each other, as the tourists slumped from 71 for 1 to 79 for 8.

Besides Sammy, Darren Sammy was the only other West Indies batsman to counter the Bangladesh spin attack, scoring a meticulous 34 off 61 balls, before being caught and bowled by rookie Sohag Gazi.

Mahmudullah was the leading Bangladesh wicket-taker returning with figures of 3 for 46, while Abdur Razzaq and Elias Sunny took one wicket apiece.

Earlier, the Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and put the tourists into bat, keeping in view the role of dew later in the evening. Bangladesh spinners continued to torment the West Indies batsmen as Mahmudullah picked up the wicket of big hitting Kieron Pollard, being caught behind, to leave the tourists struggling at 79 for 5 in 23.3 overs in the ongoing fourth One Day International of the series, here at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur today, December 7, 2012.

Pollard took 14 deliveries to add two runs to the West Indies scorecard. With the Bengali spinners bowling in tandem, runs dried up for the visitors, who were reeling at 81 for 5 after 25 overs, with Darren Bravo not out on three and Devon Thomas yet to open his account.

The Khulna left-arm orthodox spinner, Abdur Razzaq, removed Dwayne Smith on the first ball of the 19th over, as the bowler deceived the batsman with an arm ball, removing his leg-stump.

Elias Sunny, playing his first match in the series, removed opener Kieran Powell and last match’s centurion Marlon Samuels, to reduce the Windies to 75 for 4 in 19.3 overs. Powell played a painstaking knock of 26 runs from 44 deliveries before being trapped leg before wicket.

Earlier, Mashrafe Mortaza, the only seamer in Bangladesh’s playing XI for today’s fourth ODI, had earned the side its first breakthrough, after having the danger man Chris Gayle caught at mid-off by Sohag Gazi for just 16.

After being put into bat, the tourists got off to a cautious start scoring just 17 runs in the first five overs. Gayle opened up in the sixth over looting Mortaza for a four and a six. However, Mortaza got his revenge claiming the left-hander’s wicket on the final ball of the same over, to leave the Windies 29 for 1 at the end of 6th over.

WEST INDIES SET 212-RUN TARGET FOR BANGLADESH

Bangladesh spinners dominated yet again, sharing eight wickets between them, to restrict the formidable West Indies batting line-up to meagre 211 for 9 in their stipulated 50 overs in the ongoing fourth ODI at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
