England are scheduled to host Australia for Ashes series in July and August, before going Down Under late in 2013 for the return leg of the traditional bilateral series in a congested year. The Australia leg of the Ashes series kick starts at the end of November 2013 at Gabba, Brisbane.
Swann, who was one of England’s stand out players in the historic 2-1 series win over India, picking up 20 wickets in four Tests, is certain his side be able to take the success forward and defeat the Ashes rivals in the back-to-back Ashes series in 2013-14.
While speaking to media reporters after sealing the India series with a draw in Nagpur on Tuesday, Swann said that historic win over the sub-continental giants was one of his best memories. However, he said that winning the Ashes series takes precedence over all the series for him.
“I'm already looking forward like an excited child to the back-to-back Ashes series in 2013,” Swann wrote in the Sun. “I just can't wait. The series win in India has given us the perfect launchpad for what should be another amazing cricketing year.”
“There is no doubt we will fancy our chances of retaining the little urn when Australia arrive in the summer - and keeping hold of it when we go Down Under next winter,” he added further.
England are next scheduled to play India in two T20 Internationals and five One Day Internationals in the one-day leg of the itinerary. But Swann has been rested for both the series. The Nottinghamshire off-spinner said that he would utilize this gap to sort out a couple of niggles and refresh him for the New Zealand tour.
"I have a lovely break now until we go to New Zealand in February. It allows me to sort out one or two niggles - and fully refresh and recharge for the year ahead," concluded Swann who had pulled a calf muscle while batting in Nagpur.
