South Africa vs New Zealand, 2nd ODI: Williamson ton leads NZ recovery

After compiling a strong partnership of 127 runs with Kane Williamson, Grant Elliot got out trying to guide a short of length delivery from Rory Kleinveldt towards third man only managing to nick straight to
wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock.

Kane Williamson at the other end, scored a fluent century with a strike rate of 100. After 35 overs, New Zealand reached 169 for 3.After winning the toss South Africa had got the early breakthrough in the form of Martin Guptill who departed for a nought in the 3rd over. Lonwabo Tsotsobe and Rory Kleinveldt applied pressure to keep a check on the Kiwis' run-rate as BJ Watling too went back to the pavilion after facing 33 balls for his 12.

When it seemed New Zealand were going downhill, Williamson and Elliot combined to steady the ship for the visitors playing watchfully at first and then increasing the tempo gradually.
Williamson reached his fourth ODI fifty hitting Petersen for a boundary in the 21st over after hitting three boundaries in one Ryan McLaren over. Elliot at the other end played the waiting game rotating the strike well as New Zealand reached 144 for 2 in 31 overs.
Earlier in the day, South Africa opted to bowl first after skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss in the second one-day international against New Zealand at the De Beers Diamond Oval on Tuesday.
The hosts have included Farhaan Behardien in place of injured Hashim Amla. Rob Nicol has been sidelined and is replaced by Colin Munro.
New Zealand won the first match at Paarl by one wicket. Du Plessis will lead the hosts in the absence of regular skipper AB de Villiers, who was banned for two ODIs for slow over rate after the first game.
